Deborah Elvins has been a partner at Adkins Black since 2006, focusing her practice on business and legal services for life-sciences companies in the early to mid-stage levels of development. Deborah’s practice includes a wide range of services, from advising boards of directors to negotiating and drafting in- and out-license agreements, manufacturing agreements, contract research organization agreements and other life sciences-specific transactions to general business advice and transactional work.
Before joining Adkins Black, she was vice president of legal affairs for Dendreon Corporation, where she provided legal services and intellectual property and human resources management for this growing, dynamic, publicly traded biotechnology company. Prior to that, she was the managing partner of the Seattle office of Stoel Rives LLP, where she practiced general corporate and business law with an emphasis on non-profit, healthcare and technology businesses. She also has experience in corporate litigation, representing business clients in complex commercial disputes, intra-corporate disputes, competitive torts and non-competition covenants.
Deborah earned an undergraduate degree in history from the University of Washington and her J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law.
Deborah currently serves as President and a member of the Board of Directors of the Organization of Regulatory and Clinical Associates, a Pacific Northwest nonprofit which sponsors monthly seminars on topics of interest to the life sciences community. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of Foster Care Alumni of America, a nonprofit dedicated to transforming the foster care system.
A third-generation Pacific Northwest native as well as an enthusiastic and adventurous traveler, Deborah has been to China, Bali, sub-Saharan Africa, Turkey, and most of the EU countries. And in spite of the fact that she likes to read The Economist, she possesses a great sense humor.
